Man Booker Prize Shortlist Announced

The Man Booker Prize Shortlist is out and I'm ashamed to say I have read not a single one of these sure-to-be fantastic books.

The six books chosen from the 13 strong longlist are:

Julian Barnes The Sense of an Ending(Jonathan Cape - Random House)

Carol Birch Jamrach’s Menagerie (Canongate Books)

Patrick deWitt The Sisters Brothers (Granta)

Esi Edugyan Half Blood Blues (Serpent’s Tail)

Stephen Kelman Pigeon English (Bloomsbury)

A.D. Miller Snowdrops (Atlantic)

Stephen Kelman and A.D. Miller are both first time novelists and four of the books come from independent publishers. But odds are on Julian Barnes' The Sense of an Ending to take away the top prize.

I shall now attempt to get through at least some of these books before the winner is announced on October 18.
